Top 6 Little Known Anticancer Weapons: Noni and Beyond

Posted on

A growing body of research indicates that the Southeast Asian fruit noni may have anticancer effects, acting as an antioxidant and boosting the immune system. In recent laboratory studies, noni has shown immune-stimulating and tumor-fighting properties. Studies are now being conducted to determine whether the effects shown in the laboratory will be replicated in real people.

Dr. Oz, who has a popular television show about medical news and trends, states that everyone has cancer cells in their bodies at all times that form microscopic tumors. In most people, these tiny tumors are destroyed by compounds found in our immune systems before they have a chance to cause any problems.

Some foods like noni are rich in these compounds called anti-angiogenic substances. Noni can be consumed as juice, tea or powder that is mixed into juice or smoothies. For those who live in areas where noni is grown, including Southeast Asia, Polynesia, Hawaii and Australia, the actual fruit can be eaten.

Other foods with anti-cancer properties, such as those listed below, can be eaten along with noni for better overall health and cancer-fighting properties.

1. Hard Cheeses

Cheeses like gouda, edam, emmenthal and Jarlsburg have lots of vitamin K2, which is antiangiogenic and can also kill cancer cells directly. Vitamin K2 is also healthy for the heart in that it helps keep arteries from hardening. For the lactose intolerant: dark chicken meat (thighs and legs) is also high in vitamin K2.

2. Cruciferous Vegetables

These vegetables, including broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower and kale, among others, contain glucosinolates, which are phytonutrients that fight disease including all types of cancer. These phytonutrients are released when the vegetables are chopped or chewed. Organic versions will help you avoid possible contaminants which may include carcinogens (cancer-causing agents).

3. Aronia Berry

Also known as chokeberry, aronia is found in woodlands and swamps and can be red, purple or black-purple. The purple color of most aronia signals a high level of anthocyanins, which have cell-protecting properties and are also anti-inflammatory, which helps prevent the conditions under which cancer usually develops.

4. Dark Chocolate

Chocolates that contain over 70% cocoa are rich in antioxidants and polyphenols, which slow cancer cells' growth and have anti-angiogenic effects. Just one square of dark chocolate contains twice as many polyphenols as a glass of red wine and almost as many as a cup of green tea. Milk chocolate is much less effective because dairy cancels out the polyphenols.

Noni Eating a diet of cancer-fighting foods can help keep you healthy.

5. Horseradish

Known for adding a spicy kick to many foods, horseradish is more than just a flavor enhancer for those who enjoy its sharp taste. Recent research shows that horseradish contains up to 10 times more tumor-suppressing glucosinolates than broccoli.

Adding some of these anticancer foods including noni to your diet can help you stay healthy and keep cancer at bay. Biconi's hair and skin care products all contain noni, which in addition to being consumed, is also absorbed through the skin for health benefits.
