From Jessica Alba to Gwyneth Paltrow: Why Celebs Love Coconut Oil and You Should Too

Posted on

The natural beauty craze has people everywhere in its grip. Nothing is more popular right now than using coconut oil in place of all kinds of different skin and hair care products. Even celebrities have discovered the many benefits of using coconut oil to do everything from softening their skin to flavoring their organic, fair trade coffee.

Unlike many celebrity crazes (oxygen treatments come to mind), coconut oil is inexpensive and readily available to the public. As celebrities have discovered, coconut oil works better than many commercially available products to achieve just about any beauty benefit for the skin, hair, and even the overall health of the body.

Here are some ways that celebrities have reported using coconut oil to enhance their lives:

--Mindy Kalig told People magazine that she learned from her Indian mother how to warm up coconut oil and soak her hair in it to keep it shiny. Coconut oil has medium chain fatty acids that can absorb into hair to moisturize it.

--Emma Stone reported to Vogue that she uses it as a makeup remover, since she has many allergies to beauty products. Coconut oil dissolves makeup and oils to remove them easily from skin.

--Kourtney Kardashian described in her blog how she eats coconuts and coconut oil to boost her metabolism and her immune system, as well as using it as body lotion and a hair mask. Coconut oil's vitamins and antioxidants make it healthy for consumption and for applying to the body.

--Apolo Anton Ohno would eat brown rice pasta prepared with coconut oil before each race to give him a boost of energy. Coconut oil is nutrient dense and has a healthier form of saturated fat that raises energy levels.

--Jessica Alba shared with the UK Telegraph that she uses a mask of Greek yogurt, coconut oil and and lemon juice for smoother, clearer skin on her face and neck. She also uses it on her hair and in the bath. Despite the fact that it is an oil, coconut oil actually balances skin to reduce acne and blemishes.

--Gwyneth Paltrow told E! Online that she uses coconut oil for oil pulling, which is when you swish coconut oil in your mouth for 20 minutes. Oil pulling whitens teeth gradually, helps overall health of teeth and gums, and is even thought to pull toxins from the body, improving its overall health. At the very least, it kills bacteria in the mouth that can make us sick.

--Mirand Kerr uses it in her salads, other cooking and in her green tea, according to the Herald Sun. Nutritionists say that 1 to 3 tablespoons of coconut oil each day will give health benefits and can even help with weight loss.

Biconi has its own 100% Cold Pressed Virgin Coconut Oil, perfect for use in any of these health, beauty and cooking applications. Virgin coconut oil is one simple way you can live like a celebrity without breaking the bank.
